This £15m new-build Academic and Medical Education/Teaching facility for the University of Plymouth was designed to straddle the Derriford Valley and provides a symbolic and physical link between the Hospital and Science Park.

The design brief included a requirement to retain and incorporate a nature reserve on the site containing protected species of flora and fauna unique to the Devonshire coast, including several aged oak trees under preservation orders.
