This building for the Pathology Department was designed and constructed as the enabling works package for the St Barts Royal London Hospital PFI scheme in Whitechapel, east London.

The design brief called for a bespoke building including laboratories, breakout spaces, and a fully serviced morgue. The project duration from start of design to completion of construction was originally scheduled to be 18 months, which was a key consideration in the design of the building, although this was later increased.
